To join the ATC as a probationer, you must be between 13 and 18 years old. To be enrolled as a 2nd class cadet and get your uniform you have to be over 13 and quarter years old.
The ATC is not free, but it does not cost much. 2227 [Mid Gwendraeth] Squadron charges each cadet £1.00 per week. Your basic uniform is provided and as long as you keep it in good order there is no extra charge.
Remember that as an ATC cadet, you are under no obligation to join the Royal Air Force. Service in the ATC is looked highly upon when applying for jobs in military and civil sectors.
You can stay in the ATC until you're 20th birthday or 22nd if you reach the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer.
2227 Squadron meets next to Ponthenri Primary School on Wednesday and Fridays from 7.00pm to 9.30pm. Feel free to call in to see what we do, or for further information phone 01269 860451.
